The hot summer has finally ended, and the season of cosmos flowers has arrived. Within the prefecture, the Fukiage Cosmos Fields along the Arakawa River are probably the most magnificent. They cover an area of 8.9 hectares and are said to contain about 10 million flowers.
This year (Reiwa 7), I went on October 13th, and the flowers were just in full bloom. If you go by car, you can use the parking lot at Cosmos Arena Fukiage for free. In Reiwa 7, the Cosmos Festival will be held on October 25th and 26th.
The contrast between the Arakawa Aqueduct Bridge and the cosmos flowers makes for a picturesque scene. There are many varieties of cosmos, but it seems the yellow cosmos is starting to come to an end.
The pink cosmos may have been the most rewarding I’ve ever seen.
There were still fields that hadn’t bloomed yet, so I think we can enjoy them for about another half month.
